5 Reasons Why Nintendo’s Wii U Console Failed

2. Underpowered specs

One of the main issues with the Wii U according to many industry pundits was its underpowered hardware, which was barely more powerful than that of last-gen consoles like the Xbox 360 and PS3. Actually, the Wii U could barely handle HD graphics, with most games running at lower resolutions instead, as was the norm with last-gen consoles.

And when the PS4 and Xbox One hit the market in 2013, boasting new-gen hardware with powerful graphics and plenty of memory for games (the PS4 for instance has 8 GB of memory vs the Wii U’s 2 GB), it made the Wii U’s hardware seem puny by comparison. Although hopefully Nintendo will rectify the situation and release a truly powerful successor to the Wii U, as its rumoured that the upcoming NX will even support ultra-high definition graphics and be much more powerful than earlier Nintendo consoles.
