6. Silent Hills

Japanese designer Hideo Kojima sure knows a thing or two about making great video games. He was behind the Metal Gear series, after all. So fans of the horror video game series Silent Hill were delighted to hear that he’ll be designing the forthcoming “Silent Hills” video game. As a matter of fact Sony made the clever marketing move of releasing a playable teaser for the game this summer, which was genuinely scary and sure did wet gamer’s appetites for the game.

Another noteworthy thing about Silent Hills is that Kojima will be partnering with pop culture star director Guillermo del Toro to make the game. He was the man behind films like Pan’s Labyrinth and Pacific Rim, and his involvement will be enough to get even the most casual gamers interested in Silent Hills. And his mind will surely come up with a monster as scary as Pyramid Head, who was the main antagonist in Silent Hill 2.

Update: Silent Hills has been cancelled, and Kojima and Guillermo del Toro are no longer working on the project.
