AMD’s Ryzen processors will be blazing fast if leaked benchmarks are to be believed

One of the most talked about events in the PC world this year has undoubtedly been the launch of AMD’s new line of Ryzen processors, which will be hitting shelves in the first quarter of the year.

This is because while US chip company AMD has found success in the past by selling low-cost parts that have found their way to budget gaming PCs (and also to Sony’s and Microsoft’s current-gen consoles too) it never really offered any serious competition to Intel at the high-end of the market, where its i5 and i7 processors reign supreme.

But it appears AMD has found a way to produce more powerful processors at a significantly lower cost, and a leaked price list suggests those looking to upgrade their gaming PCs this year should seriously consider AMD’s upcoming Ryzen line.

Of course, no matter how competitively priced these new processors are, this won’t matter at all if they don’t hold a candle to Intel’s when it comes to performance… But it appears AMD could be gearing up to take the war to Intel on all fronts this year judging by recently leaked benchmarks, which suggest Ryzen will really offer the kind of performance PC enthusiasts are craving for.

These leaked benchmarks show how AMD’s Ryzen 5 1600X compares to several i5 and i7 processors from Intel. And the result certainly is stunning, as can be seen in the chart below from wccftech.com. These scores show that AMD’s processor outperforms Intel’s i7 6800K in the Cinebench benchmark, a part that currently retails for more than $434 US dollars.

It remains to be seen, though, whether Ryzen actually performs as well in real-life applications and video games, but this is something we’ll know soon enough as AMD’s new processors will be hitting the market in a few weeks. And Ryzen’s launch is surely an event that PC enthusiasts the world over will be looking forward to, and one that could surely give PC gaming a boost this year too.
