Another Leisure Suit Larry game is coming out this year

For better or worse, it seems the Leisure Suit Larry series is one that simply won’t go away. Actually, this adventure game franchise has remained popular over the years since the first Leisure Suit Larry game debuted in 1987, while protagonist Larry Laffer is one of the best-known characters in the history of gaming.

This is despite the fact that these games have been criticized due to their unashamed sexism and oftentimes bad taste. And let’s not forget the fact that there have been some genuinely bad entries in the series too, such as Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded in 2013, and 2009’s Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, one of the top video game flops of all time.

But the fact the most recent entries in the series have left a lot to be desired has not deterred video game company Assemble Entertainment from launching another Leisure Suit Larry game this year, titled Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry. Like earlier entries in the series, this will take the form of a classic point and click adventure, with protagonist Larry Laffer one again trying his luck at bedding the best-looking girls in town.

A novelty is that unlike the earlier games in the series, this Leisure Suit Larry game will take place in the modern day, and not in the 80’s. This means players will need to get acquainted with an in-game online dating app known as Timber, with the goal to “clear the way to get to Faith, the woman of your dreams”.

Given that the most recent Leisure Suit Larry games have not been that great though, it’s not clear whether Wet Dreams Don’t Dry will end up being very good or not. But still, Larry Laffer fans will surely welcome another entry in the series, especially if Assemble Entertainment manages to surprise everyone and actually delivers a good Leisure Suit Larry game this fall.
