Assassin’s Creed Odyssey system requirements announced: this is what you need to play on PC

The Assassin’s Creed series has sold a boatload of copies since the first game hit shelves back in 2007, and although Ubisoft disappointed fans in 2014 with the ill-fated Assassin’s Creed Unity, last year’s Assassin’s Creed Origins sure was a great return to form for the franchise.

So it makes sense that fans are looking forward to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the next game in the series which is set in ancient Greece.

And those looking forward to enjoying the game’s action and adventure on PC can now find out whether their PC will be up to the task of running this latest Assassin’s Creed, as French video game company Ubisoft has now published the game’s system requirements on its website.

Thankfully, your PC won’t need to be blessed with the latest cutting edge components in order to run Odyssey. That is, you can get by with an Intel i5-2400 processor or AMD FX 6300 and 8 GB of memory, plus a Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 if you’re content with playing the game at 720p resolution and low detail settings.

Those wanting more visual eye candy will need a more capable machine of course, and the game’s recommended requirements ask for an Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD FX-8350 processor, and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or equivalent AMD card. You’ll also need 8 GB of memory to play the game at 1080p and high detail settings, while 46 GB of hard drive space will be necessary to install the game in either case.

Ubisoft has also published recommended system requirements for 4K resolution, which obviously demand some pretty powerful hardware. The processor requirement here is either an Intel Core i7-7700 or AMD Ryzen 1700X, paired with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 or AMD Vega 64 and a whopping 16 GB of memory, meaning it’s likely only a lucky few will be enjoying the game in glorious ultra-high definition.

Do note all this specs are given for a targeted frame rate of 30 frames per second, which means even more horsepower will be needed if you want to push your frame rate to the 60s.

Also, it’s also a good thing that this won’t be a mere port of the console versions. Actually, an entire team at Ubisoft is working on this PC version, meaning this has the potential to be one of the best releases of the year on PC when it comes out this fall no doubt.
