Batman Arkham dev Rocksteady expands its team as work continues on next-gen superhero game

Rocksteady Studios is a developer that needs no introduction. Actually, the game makers are behind three of the best superhero games of all time: Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City and 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight.

The London-based outfit have been awfully quiet since releasing a Batman: Arkham game for VR back in 2016 though, with rumours emerging online that the British developer was hard at work on another superhero game.

Such rumours turned to reality earlier this year, and recently it came to light that the dev is looking to expand its team as it continues to work on its next AAA game, as reported on Eurogamer.

This job listings cover a variety of positions from scriptwriting to coding, meaning Rocksteady sure is ramping up efforts to get its game ready for launch when the next generation of consoles arrives.

That’s still a while off though, as Sony has suggested that PlayStation 5 won’t hit the market until at least 2020, while it also looks like Microsoft won’t be launching a new console anytime soon as the Xbox One X hit the market only last year.

But still, it’s hard not to get excited about Rocksteady’s upcoming game given how great the Batman: Arkham games were, particularly the last entry in the series. Also, it’s clear not everyone has the magic touch for making superhero games, as evidenced by the fact that the only Batman: Arkham game Rocksteady did not make (that’ll be Batman: Arkham Origins) clearly did not reach the heights of Rocksteady’s offerings.

Also, the British dev has lofty ambitions for its next game, and is aiming for score of 90 or more on Metacritic according to the Eurogamer article, meaning there’s hope that Rocksteady can do for Superman (or whatever superhero it chooses to be the protagonist of its next game) what it did for Batman in its Arkham games.
