Perhaps one of the most interesting features of Microsoft’s Xbox One console is backwards compatibility, which allows players to enjoy their old Xbox 360 games on Microsoft’s new-gen machine. And Microsoft’s list of backwards compatible games continues to grow, and already includes last-gen classics like Assassin’s Creed II and Red Dead Redemption.

The latest game to make the list is none other than Call of Duty: World at War, one of the better entries in what undoubtedly is one of the most popular video game franchises of all time. World at War was released in 2008 and marked a return to the World War II settings of earlier games like Call of Duty 3 (which Microsoft has also added to the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility list), after the huge success that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was in 2007.

In Call of Duty: World at War, players took part in a campaign set in the Pacific theatre where they had to deal with Japan’s troops, and other missions were set in Eastern Europe in which the Soviets and allies fought the remnants of German resistance. Aside from the single player campaign, Call of Duty: World at War also introduced the series’ trademark zombies mode, in which players had to battle scores of undead Nazis in a mode that was great entertainment back in the day.

So it’s great news that gamers will be able to replay one of the better entries in the Call of Duty series on their Xbox One, if they already own the Xbox 360 game (or by getting it online on xbox.com or from another retailer). Microsoft also announced that three other games have been added to their compatibility list, namely FunTown Mahjong, E4: Every Extend Extreme and Encleverment Experiment, meaning that Xbox One owners can now play many of last-gen’s best titles on their console and relive those old gaming memories…
