Deus Ex: Mankind Divided live action trailer shows dystopian future

Most gamers would agree that 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of the best role-playing video games made to date, and that its story set in a dark futuristic world was one of the most engaging of the year.

So it is logical that fans of the original game are anxious to get their hands on its upcoming sequel Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, which studio Eidos Montreal has been hard at work on for the last couple of years. And although we haven’t seen that many trailers for their upcoming game to date, the truth is that Eidos’ latest live action trailer for Mankind Divided is simply stunning.

The trailer shows the dystopian futuristic world the game takes place in, one which initially welcomed “augmentations” and augmented humans with open arms, but that later gets to reject the world’s cybernetically-enhanced population. These augmentations gave some superhuman strength or speed, but a malfunction made augmented individuals prone to violence and eventually were segregated from the rest of society.

We see these events play out through the eyes of a couple (one augmented, one not), in a great trailer that one wished was made into a full-length movie… But still, if this trailer is any indication of what to expect from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’s story, then perhaps Eidos Montreal’s game could end up becoming one of the year’s top video games when it is released later this summer.

Note: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be released on August 23, 2016. Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
