It’s likely quite a few video game fans are looking forward to Monster Hunter World, an upcoming game by Capcom which, as its name suggests, involves hunting monsters of all kinds. Like the other games in the franchise, this too is set in a colourful, Final Fantasy-style world.

And to give you an idea of what to expect from the final game when it ships in late January, Capcom has put out a video showing off one of the areas you’ll get to explore in the full game, a swampland known as Rotten Vale.

This latest gameplay video for Monster Hunter World (see below) also introduces the new Radobaan and Odogaron monsters, two ferocious beasts which you’ll have to square off with in the game.

The video shows the player character fighting Radobaan in the Rotten Vale first, a creature with a tar-like body coated “with the bones of fallen monsters”, while later the pink-skinned Odogaron monster shows up to fight both Radobaan and the player in succession.

Truth be told, though, neither fight looks particularly dramatic or interesting in this gameplay video, although the game does boast some pretty nice graphics.

Monster Hunter World is coming to consoles this January, after Capcom announced earlier that the PC version would be delayed until the fall. Console players will be able to play an open beta pretty soon too as well, meaning we’ll soon have a better idea of how good this latest entry in the Monster Hunter series could turn out to be when it ships later this month.

Note: Monster Hunter World will be released on January 26, 2018. Available on PS4 and Xbox One.
