Nioh launch trailer shows off combat and supernatural enemies

One of this year’s most eagerly awaited PS4 exclusives is no doubt Team Ninja’s Nioh, an action game set in feudal Japan that could end up becoming one of 2017’s top video game hits.

Actually, Nioh is already one of the year’s best reviewed games, boasting a Metacritic score of 88 at the time of writing, with reviewers praising the game’s deep and challenging combat and variety of enemies, even if Nioh’s story is clearly not its strong suit.

The game does have an intriguing 17th century Japan setting though, while another interesting feature of this samurai video game is its difficulty. This is because Team Ninja’s game clearly pays homage to From Software’s now classic Dark Souls series, offering several very challenging boss fights against tough supernatural enemies, some of which can be seen in the game’s spectacular launch trailer below.

Of course, not all gamers will be fond of the level of challenge offered by a game like Nioh, or enjoy hack and slash action in video games, but the trailer also does show off the game’s beautiful oriental art and settings, meaning this game could be an easy choice for Dark Souls fans and lovers of Japanese action video games this year.

Note: Nioh was released on February 7, 2017. Available on PS4.
