10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011)
Think what you will of the Call of Duty series, but it’s clear that Activision’s franchise has been a massive success. Actually, Modern Warfare 3 is the best-selling Call of Duty game, having shifted almost 27 million copies to date. And the game featured the same combination of a cinematic single player campaign and addicting multiplayer as its predecessors, although its weak story, the respawning enemies in missions and poor AI did blemish the campaign somewhat.
The refined multiplayer was still a blast, though, but the new survival mode which pitted players against hordes of enemies wasn’t a great substitute for the series’ classic zombie mode. And the multiplayer, despite being as good as ever, really did not add enough to distinguish the experience from that of previous Call of Duty games.
