See how much better Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered looks in this gameplay video

Back in 2007, Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare caused a sensation due to its great single player campaign and superb multiplayer modes. So it makes sense that many Call of Duty fans could not contain their excitement when video game company Activision announced that it would be releasing a remastered edition of Modern Warfare this fall.

Although some were understandably upset by the fact that they would only be able to buy this remastered edition of Modern Warfare in a bundle with the upcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare game in November, this perhaps being the reason why the latter’s launch trailer got a record number of dislikes on YouTube

But still, Call of Duty fans will be getting a double treat of first-person military action this fall, and it’s also clear that Activision is putting quite a bit of effort into the Modern Warfare remaster to make sure it is not overshadowed by Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare this November. Actually an independent studio (Raven Software) is taking care of the remaster to make sure that it is not only true to the original Modern Warfare game in terms of gameplay but also so that it looks as new-gen as possible, as is clear from the gameplay video below.

This video shows footage from the game’s “Crew Expendable” mission, in which protagonist John MacTavish and company board a ship at night in order to search for secrets while clearing the vessel’s occupants… Here we can see how much better the remaster looks overall, with better, higher resolution textures, more true to life rainfall and more realistic lighting. For comparison, you can take a look at a walkthrough of the same mission from the original 2007 game (courtesy of Ross Mahon, a YouTuber), seeing how much the upcoming remaster will improve things in terms of visuals.

Another thing is whether the remaster will offer the same exciting gameplay as the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which is widely considered to be the best Call of Duty game released to date, although Dave Stohl of Infinity Ward has assuaged player’s fears, saying that the remaster won’t lose “that vibe or feel of the original game”. And it would be a great thing if the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered bundle turned out to be a good package that offers fans of the Call of Duty franchise many solid hours of entertainment when it ships this fall.
