Shadow of the Tomb Raider preview video explores the lost city of Paititi

Tomb Raider fans were elated last March when Japanese publisher Square Enix revealed that a new Tomb Raider game would be hitting shelves this fall, bringing back everyone’s favourite video game heroine Lara Croft.

Named Shadow of the Tomb Raider, this will also feature a new South American setting instead of the Pacific Islands and Siberian wasteland seen in the last two entries, meaning quite a few people will be having fun exploring the exotic locales which are sure to feature in this latest Tomb Raider entry.

One such location is Paititi, a bustling city in the middle of the South American jungle which developer Eidos Montreal claims in the largest hub yet in a Tomb Raider game.

As you might expect, here you’ll be able to barter for goods in the local market as seen in the preview video below, while you’ll also receive side quests from the locals, and enter more of those challenge tombs, which were such a great feature in the earlier Rise of the Tomb Raider game.

So, will Shadow of the Tomb Raider be the series’ best game to date? This remains to be seen, but given how good both Rise of the Tomb Raider and 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot were, it’s hard not to think this won’t be another great entry in the franchise when it’s released later this year.

Note: Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be released on September 14, 2018. Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
