2. Overwatch

Without a doubt, Blizzard’s Overwatch has caused a sensation this year due to its fast-paced multiplayer action, colourful roster of characters and deep gameplay, and much like earlier Blizzard hits like Diablo III or Starcraft this is one game that’s easy to pick up and play, but difficult to master.

Perhaps Overwatch’s greatest appeal is its varied cast of characters, letting gamers play attack, defence and support roles. And Blizzard definitely shows its strength for creating great video game characters here, with the likes of Russian sniper Widowmaker, feisty soldier Tracer and Nordic turret expert Torbjörn being some of the most memorable characters seen in a game to date. And these and the other Overwatch characters were all great fun to play as in Blizzard’s game, which has not only been one of the top video games of 2016, but also one of the best arena shooters released in years.
