3. Resident Evil (2002)

Resident Evil is the most successful video game to movie franchise of all time, with five box office hits. What is truly unique about it is that it has managed to transcend the video game and earn its own following. This is in no small part due to star Milla Jovovich, an ass kicking leading lady that rivals Angelina Jolie’s Lara Croft.

This first film in the series not only offers plenty of over the top zombie blasting action, tense moments, and a modern anti-corporate message, but it also has the scent of classic zombie movies such as Romero’s The Night of the Living Dead.
