This Assassin’s Creed game has joined the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility list

One of the top features of Microsoft’s Xbox One no doubt is backwards compatibility. This lets you play your old Xbox 360 games on the new console, which surely is a boon, even if not all of the old 360 games are yet playable on the Xbox One.

The number of backwards compatible games keeps growing though, and Microsoft recently announced that several new games had made the list. One of these is Assassin’s Creed III, Ubisoft’s best-selling 2012 game. For those not familiar with the Assassin’s Creed series, this is an open-world historical game which takes place during the American Revolution.

Players took control of native American Connor in the game, a guy who might not be the top Assassin’s Creed character to date, but nonetheless it was nice to see him get involved in the major events of the American Revolution (sometimes by pure accident though…).

And although Assassin’s Creed III has been criticized for featuring dull side activities like hunting, pig herding and even having to attend boring wedding ceremonies, this was still a decent entry in the franchise for you to play through, featuring some interesting missions (such as the Battle of Bunker Hill) and bloody and exciting combat to enjoy.

Those who already own the Xbox 360 game will simply have to check their download list or alternatively pop the disc in to install the game, while those who are looking to dive into this Assassin’s Creed adventure and don’t own the game can get it from the Xbox Store, for instance.

Aside from Assassin’s Creed III, Microsoft has also announced that another four Xbox 360 games can now be played on their Xbox One console. These are Matt Hazard: Blood, Bath and Beyond, Shadow Assault: Tenchu, ilomilo and Shinobi.

So those who own any of these games or were hoping to play these Xbox 360 oldies on their Xbox One console are in luck, and it no doubt is a great thing for owners of Microsoft’s console that the One’s backwards compatibility list keeps growing. This list now boasts more than 300 games, while it’s likely Microsoft will keep announcing new additions regularly throughout 2017. We’ll keep you posted.
