If one thing is clear, is that 2014’s playable teaser for the Silent Hills game was one of the best game demos made to date. It was a scary slice of gameplay, as good as anything earlier Silent Hill games had to offer. So it makes sense that fans of the horror video game series were looking forward to the game’s release, especially after it was revealed that renowned director Guillermo del Toro would be collaborating with Japanese designer Hideo Kojima on the game.

But then came disappointment, as Konami backed away from AAA game development and also broke their relationship with Kojima, making them one of the most controversial companies in gamers’ eyes. So we’ll never get to see what Guillermo del Toro and Kojima had in store for us, and sadly the P.T. trailer for Silent Hills was also controversially removed from the PlayStation Store. Even more disappointingly, Guillermo del Toro revealed that the game was going to feature the work of horror manga artist Junji Ito… Although hopefully the Silent Hill series will continue in some form or another in the future.
