3. Mafia III

Mafia III takes place in the New Orleans-inspired city of New Bordeaux.

Fans of the GTA games could do worse than take a look at developer Hangar 13’s Mafia III game, which is one of the most promising GTA-style games coming out this year. Mafia III is set in the fictional city of New Bordeaux (which is based on real-life New Orleans), and in the game players take control of Vietnam vet Lincoln Clay, who is on a mission to avenge his gang the black mob after they are put out of business by the Italian mafia…

The city of New Bordeaux is a sprawling playground with many districts like the French Ward and the swampy Bayou district. Also, aside from the typical open-world gameplay offered by this sort of game, Mafia III will have some pretty deep character interaction, as Lincoln Clay’s lieutenants (including mobster Vito from Mafia II) can even turn on him under certain circumstances. All in all, Mafia III is certainly looking like it could be one of the best video games slated for release this year.
