Developer CD Projekt Red is certainly one of the most consumer-friendly video game companies out there. From their approach to game copy protection issues to their policy of releasing plenty of free DLC for their games, it makes sense that they have a legion of fans amongst gamers. And their latest game, The Witcher 3, is certainly one of the best role-playing games ever, even if it has generated a bit of controversy.

But a rumour that the Polish company was in talks to be bought by controversial video game company Electronic Arts had their fans up in arms, as being acquired by a corporate giant like EA might put an end to CD Projekt’s independence and consumer-friendly way of doing things. The rumour spread like wildfire and even CD Projekt Red had to issue an official statement denying it, as it was based on a source who claimed to be an employee of the company but actually wasn’t, and the website that reported the whole thing had not done their due diligence. So this was a case of too much ado about nothing, it seems.
