While some have complained about the somewhat inappropriate locations of PokéStops in western countries, the fact that PokéStops are located in temples also raised concerns in India. This is due to the fact that PokéStops are locations where Pokémon Go players can restock their supply of in-game eggs (amongst other things), and the game showing pictures of eggs in places of worship such as temples hurt the religious sensibilities of many.

This led to Pokémon Go being taken to court in the country, with some even asking that the game be banned outright according to the BBC. This news was met with derision by many in the Asian country, though, and it’s unlikely that Pokémon Go’s makers had any intention of offending anyone with innocuous in-game items like eggs.
