If one thing is clear about Mortal Kombat X, is that it will feature the largest roster of fighters the series has ever seen. Well-known characters such as Rayden and Johnny Cage make a welcome return, but the game will also feature new characters such as Johnny Cage’s daughter Cassie Cage and the ruler of Outworld, Kotal Khan. And additional characters will be featured through DLC, including Predator and Jason Voorhees of Friday the 13th.

And with a roster like that, you can expect the game to be more violent than ever, with the brutal X-ray moves of its predecessor making a return as well as the series infamous “Fatalities”, which promise to be more gruesome than ever. But perhaps the most interesting thing gameplay-wise is that each character will have 3 variations and players will have to select one when choosing a character. For instance, Cassie Cage’s variations are Hollywood, Brawler and Spec-Ops. In the latter, she can rely on airstrikes to beat her opponent, and if one thing is clear is that having these variations will surely make the game more replayable and fun. Cassie Cage and other Mortal Kombat X fighters feature in the game’s launch trailer, which you can watch below.

Release date: April 14, 2015. Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. It will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3, on June 2, 2015. Mortal Kombat X is rated ‘M’ for Mature in the U.S. and PEGI-18 in the United Kingdom.
