3. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was to many 2015’s best video game, a mature role-playing game set in a dark fantasy world boasting a great story with adult themes, plus some great quests and sword and sorcery action… This was the last adventure of Geralt, a monster hunter and witcher, and most of the story dealt with his search for his adoptive daughter Ciri, a woman trained to be a witcher and who could hack and slash with the best of them.

And while protagonist Geralt was a great character overall, gamers also got to play as Ciri at some points in the adventure. Those scenes with Ciri were some of the highlights of the game, whether she was socializing with a devious baron or escaping from the clutches of a trio of evil witches… Geralt’s protégé surely was a match for grizzled male warriors in a world hostile to a female warrior like her, plus there’s no doubt that getting to play another character certainly made The Witcher 3 a better experience overall.
