World War Z game gets release date, new trailer

It’s been a long time coming, but World War Z will finally be releasing in April this year. This video game by Saber Interactive is based on the Paramount movie of the same name, and disappointingly for some, is multiplayer only.

However, the game does include a variety of multiplayer modes, including an interesting PvPvZ mode (this stands for Players vs Players vs Zombies by the way), in which two teams of four try to get the better of each other while also outliving the zombies.

The game’s 3D engine is able to show hundreds of zombies onscreen at a time, as can be seen in the trailer below, while the game will ship with 5 different multiplayer modes for you to enjoy.

World War Z’s multiplayer modes include familiar modes like King of the Hill, in which you are tasked with controlling a hill, and Vaccine Hunt, in which you earn points for your team by picking up and holding an item. There’s also Scavenge Raid, in which you have to take control of resources throughout the map in order to win the match, and Swarm Deathmatch, in which two teams fight each other until one side prevails. Finally, there’s Swarm Domination, which involves capturing zones, thereby earning points in order to achieve victory for your team.

World War Z’s variety of multiplayer modes could make this one of the most engaging games of the year, no doubt, although it remains to be seen whether Saber Interactive’s game can stand out given the recent release of other high-profile multiplayer games like Apex Legends and Anthem.

However, if zombies and multiplayer action are your thing, there’s little to choose from this year aside from World War Z, so here’s hoping this lives up to the hype when it comes out in two months time.

Note: World War Z will be released on April 16, 2019. Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
