Ghost Recon: Wildlands is another Ubisoft game based on the writings of novelist Tom Clancy, after The Division took the world by storm in 2016. This wasn’t nearly as well reviewed as Ubi’s post-apocalyptic New York shooter though, and also caused a bit of controversy due to its portrayal of the South American country of Bolivia, where the action takes place in.

Nonetheless, Ghost Recon: Wildlands has become a hit this year, debuting at number one in the UK charts and being one of the top entertainment products sold in the first half of 2017, even if it’s still behind Rockstar’s world-conquering GTA V.

And those wishing to try Ubisoft’s military open-world shooter are in luck, as a trial version of the game is now available on PSN and Xbox Live for you to enjoy. Bafflingly, there is no similar trial available on PC at this point in time, although at least console players will be able to take Ubisoft’s game out for a spin and decide whether it’s worth their hard-earned dosh or not.

This is a game that adheres to Ubisoft’s usual open-world template, meaning there’s a main story to follow in which you’ll be going after a ruthless drug dealer known as “El Sueño”, while you can also take part in numerous side activities available in the huge game world.

Wildlands also lets you play its campaign cooperatively, while Ubisoft has also announced that a new Player vs Player mode will be coming soon, as a matter of fact you will be able to take part in an open beta and test such mode this summer, as reported on Eurogamer.

Fans of open-world, military shooters will be delighted by this news then, as this is a great opportunity to try out one of the year’s most exciting releases for free while we wait for other major video game releases which will be hitting shelves in 2017.
