Star Wars Battlefront 2 is most viewed E3 game by far

Although many great-looking games were doing the rounds at E3 this year, it seems one has outshined them all when it comes to YouTube views. This is because Electronic Arts’ upcoming multiplayer action game Star Wars Battlefront II has been the show’s most viewed video game by far, coming on top of other highly-anticipated titles like FIFA 18 and Mario’s new adventure Super Mario Odyssey.

Actually, Star Wars Battlefront II’s trailer got a whopping 7.9 million views during this year’s E3, quite a bit ahead of Super Mario Odyssey’s, which garnered a very respectable 5.5 million views, see the full YouTube list below.

Most viewed E3 trailers list:

1. Star Wars Battlefront II – 7.9M views

2. Super Mario Odyssey – 5.5M views

3. Marvel’s Spider-Man – 4.5M views

4. FIFA 18 – 4.0M views

5. Need for Speed: Payback – 3.4M views

6. Call of Duty: WWII – 3.3M views

7. Forza Motorsport 7 – 3.1M views

8. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle – 3.0M views

9. South Park: The Fractured But Whole – 2.7M views

10. Assassin’s Creed Origins – 2.6M views

And it may not surprise you to know that Star Wars Battlefront II was also the most viewed game of the show overall too, taking into account not only the official trailers but also fan-made videos related to the game in question, and also media coverage.

What’s interesting here too is that Assassin’s Creed Origins comes in at number 2 here, proving this is one of the most eagerly awaited video games of 2017 after Ubisoft refrained from releasing a major entry in the franchise last year. So hopefully this will turn out to be great when it ships this fall.

Most viewed E3 games (overall) list:

1. Star Wars Battlefront II (EA)

2. Assassin’s Creed Origins (Ubisoft)

3. FIFA 18 (EA)

4. Call of Duty: WWII (Activision)

5. God of War (Sony)

6. Super Mario Odyssey (Nintendo)

7. Marvel’s Spider-Man (Sony)

8. Anthem (EA)

9. Need for Speed: Payback (EA)

10. Dragon Ball Fighter Z (Bandai Namco)

What can’t be denied though, is the massive appeal of Star Wars and of Battlefront’s sequel, which will be hitting shelves on November 17 this year. And Star Wars Battlefront II looks like it will be a bigger and better game than its predecessor, amongst other things due to the fact that it features the much-requested single player campaign which was missing in the original, and also due to the fact the game will cover multiple eras and offer more playable heroes than the first game did.

And aside from characters like Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Darth Maul from the prequels, Yoda will also be a playable character here. This will likely have plenty of Star Wars fans giddy with anticipation, as this is the first time since 2007’s Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron that we’ll be able to control the venerable Jedi master in a video game. Of course, Yoda also appeared in the Star Wars LEGO games, and also in other so-so Star Wars video game adaptations like the pretty poor Star Wars: Yoda Stories, which came out in 2011.

Also, taking into account that Star Wars Episode VIII is coming out this year too, it’s likely that interest in all things Star Wars-related is sky-high at this point, helping explain why Star Wars Battlefront II garnered so much interest at E3 this year. So here’s hoping that EA’s game can outmatch its predecessor, and turn out to be another great Star Wars experience when it hits shelves this November.
