Ranking the best Resident Evil movies

If one thing is clear, is that the Resident Evil movies are some of the most popular B-movie blockbusters in Hollywood history, and have millions of fans worldwide. And given the recent rumours that Resident Evil: The Final Chapter might actually not be the last movie in the franchise, it’s certainly time to look back at this entire movie series.

So which of these movies is the best, and which the worst? Given that millions of viewers worldwide have enjoyed the Resident Evil movies to date this will be a matter of passionate debate for sure, and while each film certainly has its merits, in the end, only one can be the best. So here follows a list of the Resident Evil movies, ranked from worst to best.

6. Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)

If one thing is clear, is that the Resident Evil franchise has quite a following, and has become one of the most successful B-movie series in Hollywood since the original film was released back in 2002. And Resident Evil: Retribution was another solid hit, and is one of the top-grossing video game movies of all time having made a whopping $240 million US dollars worldwide.

But sadly this is not the most inspired movie of the series to date, as its overreliance on fancy CGI and even more slow motion sequences than its predecessor detracted from the experience somewhat, plus it featured a more convoluted and less interesting plot than earlier entries.

The movie’s female leads were still appealing though, with former model Mila Jovovich once again shining in the Alice role and getting to kick zombie butt in style, and Michelle Rodríguez as a fellow resistance fighter and Chinese actress Bingbing Li as an Umbrella Corporation turncoat looking great too. This movie was clearly a case of style over substance then, but still had enough thrills and action in it to please fans of the Resident Evil franchise.
