The top 5 BioWare games

4. Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn

While Baldur’s Gate became an instant classic upon release, its sequel surpassed it in every department. The game also had memorable characters like Minsc – a bigger, better version of his persona from the original game. The crazy ranger who kept a “giant space hamster” as a pet was always fun to have around. So was Korgan, an angry dwarf who was an expert with a battleaxe… Of course, the evil wizard Irenicus (voiced by David Warner) was an even better villain than Sarevok from the first Baldur’s Gate.

The game had enough content to keep players busy for over 100 hours, and filled with memorable quests. Taking down a malicious red dragon after being tricked by it earlier was an epic experience, as so was doing evil deeds for a vampire sect in the port city of Athkatla… Of course, this is also an old-school RPG and has some insanely difficult fights. Besides dragons and the level-draining vampires, other enemies like beholders and liches (such as the infamous Kangaxx) could make short work of an unprepared party… The game had a fantastic orchestral score too – BioWare surely excelled themselves here, no doubt.

Release date: September 2000 (original), November 2013 (enhanced edition). Available on PC, iOS, Android, other platforms.
