The top 5 most disappointing games of 2016

5. Homefront: The Revolution

Homefront: The Revolution was a game that looked promising, but failed to deliver in the end. This sequel to 2011’s Homefront did have an interesting story set in a US city invaded by the North Korean army, and some pretty good weapon customization options, but the remaining elements were simply not that good.

The game’s characters were not an interesting or colourful bunch, and the open-world gameplay with an emphasis on guerrilla warfare has been done better in other games this year, notably in Ubisoft’s pretty good The Division. Plus the game shipped with a plethora of bugs that got in the way of player’s enjoyment (such as believe it or not, disappearing enemies…), even though Homefront: The Revolution wasn’t an outright bad game, just a disappointing release that failed to live up to player’s expectations this year.
