Even if Assassin’s Creed is a big-budget film (it is rumoured that Ubisoft’s movie cost between $150 and $200 million US dollars), with high production values and an undoubtedly stellar cast featuring the likes of Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, it is up against some heavyweight competition when it hits the theatres in December.

Actually, Disney’s big-budget Star Wars spin-off movie Rogue One is releasing this December too, and will be competing with Justin Kurzel’s movie for box office attention. And although Assassin’s Creed is a world-famous video game series with millions of players worldwide, there’s no denying it will be hard for viewers to resist the allure of a new Star Wars film, no matter the popularity of the Assassin’s Creed games. Of course, some viewers may opt to see both, but will Justin Kurzel’s movie be able to stand up against director Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars epic? This remains to be seen…
