The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 surely was one of the most important video game-related events of 2025. However, a controversy erupted over Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, which did not come bundled with the console but had to be purchased separately, coming in at $9.99 US dollars.

Less a game and more a technology demonstration to showcase the new console capabilities, many fans were disgruntled that the Japanese company did not offer Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour for free with the Nintendo Switch 2. Even more so taking into account that the console retails for a hefty $449.99 US dollars, and that physical games can cost up to $89.99… A Nintendo VP, though, defended Nintendo’s pricing of Welcome Tour, saying it is a “robust piece of software” which the company’s team put “care and work” into, as the controversy surrounding it rages on…
