5 differences between the PS5 Slim and the original console

5. A bigger hard drive

One of the complaints many had against the original PS5 console (aside from its bulkiness and somewhat ugly aesthetic) was its lack of internal storage. You see, the console shipped with only 825 GB of space, meaning that fitting the latest games in the console’s internal hard drive was somewhat of a challenge (and installing and removing games something of a chore).

After all, games like fantasy epic Baldur’s Gate 3 weigh in at about 109 GB, while the latest Call of Duty will require a whopping 140 GB to install…

Luckily, Sony has taken note of this and decided to fit the PS5 Slim with a more generous 1 TB of internal storage. And the extra 175 GB space will sure come in handy when it comes to installing the latest games, even if both the slim version and the original share the same hardware otherwise. Those wanting a more powerful version of the PS5 will have to wait for the much-vaunted PS5 Pro, which is rumored to arrive during the 2024 holiday season.
