3. Soul Gambler

This charming indie game lets players literally become “soul gamblers”, as it is a modern retelling of the classic “Faust” play by 19^th century author Goethe. And it is clear that the game’s protagonist Faust is not a man satisfied with his life, as he accepts a mysterious woman’s offer to sell parts of his soul in order to have his wishes fulfilled…

And this 2013 game no doubt sports pretty, comic book-style visuals and allows players to choose different paths in its story, leading to different endings for protagonist Faust. But sadly, this PC and Windows Phone game is not as lengthy as one could hope, as players can be done with the main story in less than 60 minutes… Although in this age of derivative first-person shooter games, Soul Gambler’s original and entertaining story and gameplay are no doubt a breath of fresh air.
