Call of Duty: WWII – preload times and PC system requirements revealed as release date approaches

Despite the fact that last year’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was one of the top-selling games worldwide, it wasn’t that well-received by Call of Duty fans, many of which were not that fond of Infinite Warfare’s sci-fi setting. So, it’s likely quite a few Call of Duty fans breathed a sigh of relief when Activision announced that the series would be going back to its roots in 2017, with the upcoming Call of Duty: WWII being set during World War II like the first games in the series were.

Of course, it remains to be see whether Call of Duty: WWII will be able to match the original Call of Duty (still one of the best first-person shooters ever made), but since the game’s release date is just around the corner, it won’t be long before Call of Duty fans find out whether Call of Duty: WWII ends up being a return to form for the series, or a disappointment like last year’s Infinite Warfare was.

Thankfully, those eager to get playing when the game releases on Friday, November 3, can begin pre-loading the game now on PS4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam) in order to avoid having to wait for a lengthy download come the game’s release date later this week.

Also, those planning to get the PC version of Call of Duty: WWII will be happy to know that Activision has revealed the game’s system requirements, which is great in order to find out whether your rig will be up to the task of running this latest Call of Duty game.

Fortunately, the minimum system requirements are not too steep, and an Intel Core i3 3225 or an AMD Ryzen 5 1400 will suffice to get Call of Duty: WWII running, while a Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or comparable graphics card will be needed to play too. The game does demand quite a bit of hard drive space though, and you will have to free a whopping 90 GB of space before you can install and play this latest Call of Duty game.

The recommended system requirements are obviously more demanding, but still nothing out of this world, at least if you are running a PC with an Intel processor. Actually, the recommended Intel CPU is an Intel Core i5-2400, or an AMD Ryzen 5 1600X (as a side note, the fact that the required AMD processor is quite a bit more powerful than the Intel one shows the lack of optimization for AMD’s Ryzen at this point).

Also, no more than 90 GB will be needed to install and play the game, while a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 will be sufficient to enjoy Call of Duty: WWII at its best (see full system requirements below).

What’s clear, though, is that Call of Duty: WWII is one game to look forward to, and will in all likeness be one of the top video game hits of 2017, so here’s hoping it turns out to be a good Call of Duty game too when it hits shelves this week.
