It’s been absent from major game shows like E3 and the Paris Games Week, but Hideo Kojima has chosen this year’s Game Awards to show us more of his upcoming game Death Stranding.
And like the game’s earlier trailer (also shown at last year’s Game Awards ceremony) this one is nothing short of weird. We once again see actor Norman Reedus playing a character who appears to be in some kind of sci-fi, post-apocalyptic world.
He’s also seen carrying a baby in a crystal tube at some point, the same one which appeared in an earlier trailer featuring Guillermo del Toro.
There are also strange, shadow-like creatures (extra-terrestrials, perhaps?) which are obviously not friendly to Norman Reedus’ character and his friends… The weirdest thing, though, is that this trailer suggests that Norman Reedus’ character in the game might actually be pregnant…
It’s clear, then, that Death Stranding could end up being designer Hideo Kojima’s most original game to date, and this obviously is also quite a departure from the Metal Gear Solid series, as it looks like Death Stranding could be more of a horror sci-fi adventure instead of a strategic third-person shooter like the Metal Gear Solid games were.
The game doesn’t have a release date yet, though, but fingers crossed Kojima and his team at studio Kojima Productions are able to get Death Stranding ready for a 2018 launch, as this is clearly one of the most eagerly-anticipated games of the moment no doubt.
