It’s hard to argue that Elden Ring wasn’t one of 2022 best games. After all, it was crowned Game of the Year at the Game Awards, and received numerous other accolades from the top video game outlets. Thankfully, it also wasn’t as hard as other games from Japanese designer Hidetaka Miyazaki, such as Bloodborne and the infamously difficult Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice were…
Also Elden Ring got an expansion in 2023 titled Shadow of the Erdtree, which was similarly impressive.
And what’s coming next in the Elden Ring series is Elden Ring: Nightreign, a multiplayer online game set in the same fantasy universe as the original 2022 game.
Nightreign will feature co-op gameplay, as 3 players can team up to take on challenging enemies and defeat powerful bosses in a game lasting three in-game days (up to an hour in real time). And this multiplayer version of Elden Ring sure has many excited, although it remains to be seen whether Miyazaki and his team at From Software can pull this off, even if they’ve already dabbled with multiplayer and co-op gameplay in past games like Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls. This is their first multiplayer-centric game to date, though.
But those looking to play Elden Ring: Nightreign on PC will be glad to know that From Software and publisher Bandai Namco have released the system requirements for the game (via Forbes).
These are pretty modest by today’s standards, meaning that gamers with a decent PC should be able to dive in when the game’s launch date arrives.
The minimum memory requirement is 12 GB though – less than the usual 16 GB (which is the recommended amount for Nightreign) – but also testament to the fact that the days when 8 GB were enough for new AAA games are long gone.
Also, those sporting a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580 graphics card will be able to run the game. Nvidia’s GTX 1060 is roughly equivalent in power to the old GTX 970 – a popular card with gamers, which should still be able to run the game.
Regarding disk space, 30 GB will suffice to install Nightreign, meaning most players should be able to make room for FromSoftware’s upcoming title. Also, a lowly Intel Core i5-10600 or the equivalent AMD CPU listed in the requirements will suffice to run the game.
Those looking for a smoother and better-looking experience will need a PC which meets the game’s recommended requirements, and these are not super-demanding either.
It is interesting, though, that FromSoftware is recommending Windows 11 instead of Windows 10 (which features in the minimum requirements). Maybe Elden Ring: Nightreign runs better on Microsoft’s newest OS, but the truth of the matter is that the Redmond giant will stop supporting Windows 10 come October 14 this year, so this could also be the reason.
Aside from this, the recommended graphics cards for this upcoming Elden Ring spin-off is a GeForce GTX 1070 with 8 GB of memory or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 with the same amount of memory. These aren’t significantly more powerful than those recommended as a minimum requirement, and these or anything above should allow you to see the game at its best. See full system requirements below.
It makes sense that the PC system requirements for this game are not particularly demanding, as this is a multiplatform game supporting last-gen hardware including the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
So, will Elden Ring: Nightreign be a success this year or not? It’s clear this is a bold experiment on FromSoftware’s part, and especially those who loved Elden Ring back in the day will be hoping this multiplayer spin-off, which is one of 2025 top upcoming games, does turn out to be great when it arrives on May 30.
