2. Story
Fallout 4’s story is set in a morally ambiguous post-apocalyptic world, in which the player is on a quest to find his missing son, and is satisfyingly complex, featuring a few twists and surprises along the way. It is a far cry from the typical “good vs evil” storyline which is often seen in the RPG genre. And this tale set in the post-apocalyptic Boston Commonwealth, which is told through quite a few interesting characters and gives players tough decisions to make, does have quite a bit of emotional impact, unlike earlier Bethesda games.
When it comes to Skyrim though, it is clear that its “end of the world” medieval fantasy story about a dragon prophecy and the Nordic civil war is as clichéd as can be. Skyrim cast players as the “Dragonborn”, a messianic hero out to save the world in what was a largely forgettable, although not unentertaining, main storyline.
