11. Civilization I

The first Civilization started the “one more turn” syndrome back in 1991.

The original game that started a revolution. Sid Meier created a formula of empire building, research, war and diplomacy and gave it historical context. Still, nobody’s perfect. Looking at it nowadays it’s ridiculous how your spearmen would defeat a tank or Gandhi telling you his words were backed with nuclear weapons! Never has a classic game kicked so much sand in so many faces…

Standards change and times move on, but Civilization I still deserves mention for starting the “one more turn” syndrome that gave us countless of hours of fun, but ruined relationships and led to so many hours of work lost… and one can only hope it will continue to do so in the future.
