Fans of the Civilization series of strategy video games have been eagerly awaiting the release of Civilization VI, the hotly anticipated game by legendary designer Sid Meier and his development studio Firaxis. And it is logical that expectations are sky-high for this latest instalment of the Civilization series, as it will feature several gameplay innovations that could make it the best entry in the series since the highly acclaimed Civilization V, which came out back in 2010.
Firaxis has now released Civilization VI’s launch trailer, which shows an epic journey through time, and a father and daughter who appear at different moments in humanity’s history. This is a touching and spectacular trailer and surely fitting for an epic strategy game like Civilization VI, which covers all of human history. The trailer features actor Sean Bean’s narration, whose voice will also be heard during the game proper, and might make playing this Civilization game an even better experience…
But given that the game’s launch date is just around the corner (Civilization VI will be released this Friday), gamers don’t have much longer to wait to find out whether Sid Meier and Firaxis have done it again and produced another masterpiece (although truth be told, Firaxis has not always struck gold and games like 2015’s Starships have been less than stellar). But it would no doubt be a great thing if Civilization VI lived up to the hype, and turned out to be a good game that gave strategy aficionados plenty of hours of brainy fun this year.
Note: Sid Meier’s Civilization VI will be released on October 21, 2016. Available on PC and Mac.
