Although some great games have been released in 2025, others have been disappointing. Gamers were expecting great things from these video games, but for some reason or the other, they did not cut the mustard. While not being downright bad, games sometimes turn out to be disappointing despite a developer’s best intentions. Here follows a list of the top 5 most disappointing games of 2025.
1. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
To say that expectations were sky high for Bloodlines 2 would be an understatement. After all, the original Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines in an all-time classic, so living up to expectations seemed like an impossible task. Also, British studio The Chinese Room inherited the project from another studio, with the game being in development hell for a long time.
The result nonetheless is still pretty decent – an atmospheric vampire game set in modern-day Seattle with a good story and interesting characters. Bloodlines 2 doesn’t succeed as a role-playing game, though, it being more than a notch below its illustrious predecessor in this regard, and combat and stealth are undercooked and frankly not very good. So overall playing as an elder vampire in this sequel was not a great experience for many gamers, with many “World of Darkness“ fans being left disappointed this year.
