The top 5 most disappointing games of 2025

3. Little Nightmares III

The Little Nightmares games have garnered a following over the years thanks to their fun platforming and puzzle gameplay, eerie atmosphere and horror vibes. So many were looking forward to Little Nightmares III, with game studio Tasier (which was behind the previous two entries) handing over the torch to Supermassive Games, the people behind Until Dawn.

Little Nightmares III, though, failed to reach the heights of the earlier games. New protagonists Low and Alone travel through the Nowhere, encountering grotesque creatures and engaging in puzzle solving. This relies too much on crate pushing at times, though. Meanwhile, new tools like the bow and wrench fail to make an impact too… The Carnival level is inspired (and great) but the game feels shorter than its predecessors overall. So even if this offers co-op gameplay, the fact that this is online only (and not local co-op) likely disappointed many this year.
