1. Dogmeat (Fallout 4)
The Fallout games by developer Bethesda are set in a desolate post-apocalyptic world, although one can still find trustworthy companions amongst the rubble and destruction of Washington D.C. in Fallout 3 and the ruined Boston Commonwealth of Fallout 4. And Fallout 4, one of 2015’s best games, certainly had a memorable cast of characters, including the loyal Dogmeat, a German shepherd that could accompany players on their adventures.
Dogmeat could not only help players lug all the junk they collected around, but was also handy in a fight, taking out enemies like those pesky mole rats and supermutants. The charming Dogmeat also won the Top Video Game Dog award at The World Dog Awards in 2016, a worthy honour for one of the best pets to feature in a video game to date.
