Is PC gaming dead? Whenever a new generation of consoles is launched, many are quick to proclaim the death of PC gaming. After the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One, the PC was once again relegated to the gutter and did not receive the attention it deserved. Here are five reasons why the humble PC might have a chance of recapturing the gaming throne.
With millions of users and thousands of games, Steam has become the dominant digital distribution platform for videogames. You can find anything from indie hits such as Super Meat Boy to top games like the latest Assassin’s Creed. Steam sales will allow you to pick up games at prices unheard of in the console world, sometimes enjoying discounts as high as 75 %.
There is a dark side to all this, though. In the console world, trading games with friends is common, and so is selling them second-hand. Since Steam games are tied to your account none of this is possible. Will this be enough to deter the console crowd from trying PC gaming, or will the PC’s other advantages make up for it?
