Saints Row 2 is now free on GOG

The Saint Row games have always been a nice alternative to Rockstar’s world-conquering GTA series. Actually, some even consider these games by American developer Volition to offer a better gameplay experience than Rockstar’s games, although these are quite different games truth be told.

This is because while Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series has realistic settings and weapons, the Saints Row series has eschewed realism over the years, even featuring aliens and crazy devices that allow you to mind control other characters, for instance.

And those interested in the series but who are yet to try a Saints Row game will be pleased to know that Saints Row 2 will be free on GOG until April 22. So this means that PC owners will be able to play one of the best GTA clones out there free of charge, and enjoy one of the most attractive open-world video games released in the last couple of years.

Saints Row 2 takes place in the fictional city of Stilwater, and like the GTA games features plenty of over the top violence and crazy missions for you to enjoy. Aside from its violent nature, this game also caused a bit of controversy back in 2008, as publisher THQ resorted to a world-famous adult movie star in order to sell the game

Also, aside from offering Saints Row 2 for free, the two more recent games in the series (Saints Row IV and Saints Row: Gat out of Hell) now have 75 % discounts, meaning this is a good chance to grab some of the best action adventure games of the last couple of years at a good price.
