5. Christopher Walken (Privateer 2)
Renowned American actor Christopher Walken lent his acting skills to Privateer 2, which was a space combat simulator in the Wing Commander vein released in 1997. The game was something of a mess at launch, as it had more bugs than an abandoned cellar. A bit like Assassin’s Creed Unity, then.
As for the video bits, the game had a quite distinguished cast featuring the likes of Brian Blessed, John Hurt, David Warner and Clive Owen. And the Academy Award winning Walken can overact if necessary, as he proved playing a role in the earlier Jack the Ripper video game. Because no matter how well-known or talented the cast in this game was, it is clear that actors don’t play their best roles in video games.
But still, the novelty of seeing an Academy Award winner like Christopher Walken acting like he was in a South American soap opera was one of the draws of this and other 90’s games with full motion video.
