5. Making Steam a monopoly

As much fun as it may be to grab a boatload of discounted games during the Steam summer sale, you’ll also be doing another great thing: making the Steam service a monopoly. And when Steam makes physical games a thing of the past and services such as Direct2Drive become extinct, you will be able to get all your games from the one and only Steam service. Of course, Valve might then be tempted to hike prices and treat consumers like dummies. Since Steam will become the only port of call for PC gamers, you also won’t get to play anything that doesn’t get Valve’s approval to be on Steam. But hey – you will still have a great time hunting for bargains in the latest sale.
