There’s a scene in Ridley Scott’s 1979 movie Alien, in which the crew of the Nostromo enjoys a meal shortly after their ill-fated exploration of an alien spaceship, and after John Hurt’s character Kane has one of those lovely face-hugging aliens removed from his head… During that scene, Kane appears to be choking on his food at some point, before an alien emerges from his chest in what has become one of the most iconic scenes in sci-fi history to date.
And a new movie clip for Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien: Covenant film features a similar scene, in which the crew of the Covenant parties before going into cryosleep. We also see that a character played by actress Callie Hernández appears to be choking on her food at some point in the scene too, but we don’t get to see a chest-bursting alien scene this time around though…
But even though we don’t get to witness anything particularly horrifying in this short movie clip, it’s almost certain that this movie will be as scary as the director’s 2012 Prometheus, which had its fair share of shocking and often disturbing scenes. So hopefully this will match Prometheus when it comes to sheer intensity and horror, and if it also manages to live up to the 1979 classic Alien film then fans of sci-fi sure are in for a treat when this movie hits the silver screen this spring.
Note: Alien: Covenant will be released on May 19, 2017 in the US and UK.
