Mighty Thor: Jane Foster joins Marvel’s Avengers

Marvel’s Avengers was one of the biggest video game releases of 2020, and is made by the people behind the more recent Tomb Raider games (US studio Crystal Dynamics).

The game has gotten regular updates since its launch in the summer of 2020, adding new features as well as new characters to the game amongst other things.

The game saw Spider-Man added to the game’s roster of playable characters in late 2021, and more recently The Mighty Thor: Jane Foster has been added to the game.

The video below shows Jane Foster in action in the game, who like her counterpart Thor Odinson wields a magical hammer in combat… The “Goddess of Thunder”, though, has new tricks up her sleeve – her most powerful attack (known in-game as “All-Weapon”) makes use of both the hammer Mjolnir and the weapon Undrjarn to strike down her foes.

Like the other superheroes in the game, Jane Foster Mighty Thor has her own missions as well as other in-game stuff, such as cosmetics and emotes, as Crystal Dynamics explains on its website.

She’s a fully voiced character in the game, of course, but the actress behind Jane Foster in the Marvel’s Avengers game is American voice actress Zehra Fazal, and not Natalie Portman, who plays Jane Foster in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder movie.

Thor: Love & Thunder is hitting the theatres this week amid great expectation from fans. A string of good reviews prior to the movie’s theatrical release suggests this could be one of the best films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU for short).

So it makes perfect sense that The Mighty Thor: Jane Foster has been the latest addition to the Marvel’s Avengers video game, but fans might be more interested in seeing Jane Foster in the silver screen, where as stated earlier she is played by sexy actress Natalie Portman.

The interesting thing is that Jane Foster won’t be a damsel in distress this time around, but will have superpowers. She becomes a thunder goddess who will help Thor Odinson fight the evil Gorr the God Butcher (who’s intent on destroying the gods) and is played by Hollywood superstar Christian Bale. Actor Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor in this movie too.

This could be a great summer for Marvel fans, then, especially if Thor: Love and Thunder turns out to be as good as audiences are hoping it will be when it hits theatres this week. It’s also great that the Marvel’s Avengers game is getting updates almost two years after its release in 2020, with more content yet to come to Crystal Dynamics’ game in 2022, while the company is also working on the next entry in the Tomb Raider franchise, which could arrive next year.
