There’s no denying that Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be one of the biggest movies of the year. And given that millions worldwide are eager to see how the stories of characters like Rey, Finn and ace pilot Poe Dameron continue in this next chapter of the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars: The Last Jedi might very well end up being a bigger hit than J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens was in 2015, currently the top-grossing Star Wars flick to date.
And taking into account that Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s release is just a couple of weeks away, it makes sense that Disney has put out a steady stream of trailers for the movie, giving us an idea of what to expect from director Rian Johnson’s upcoming film.
Obviously, Daisy Ridley’s character Rey will be trained by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in the ways of the Force in this movie, helping her channel her immense powers for an inevitable second duel with Sith Lord Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
What’s interesting, though, and as we see in this latest trailer, is that Rey will be tempted by the Dark Side in this film, much like Luke Skywalker was in the original Star Wars trilogy. Actually, Kylo Ren appears to offer her some kind of pact at some point in the trailer, while she also faces the evil Supreme Leader Snoke in one scene, meaning it’s likely this Star Wars sequel will be putting Rey through quite an ordeal it seems.
Of course, Lucasfilm and Disney could just be deceiving us with the trailer, much like they did with the earlier The Force Awakens, so things might not be what they seem here… But giving that the movie’s release is just around the corner we will soon find out whether this latest Star Wars flick lives up to the hype and ends up being one of the top movie events of 2017 when it hits theatres next month.
