It’s that time of year again, and consumers the world over are getting ready to take advantage of this year’s Black Friday sales to get hold of much-desired items at knockout prices this year. This also applies to video games, of course, and some of the year’s biggest releases are getting good discounts including blockbuster games like Call of Duty: WWII and the latest Assassin’s Creed game too. So, without further ado, here follows a list of blockbuster games which you’ll be able to get for less during this Black Friday sale.
Call of Duty: WWII
Although many Call of Duty fans were upset by last year’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare due to its futuristic setting and failure to innovate, this year’s Call of Duty has been received with open arms by most fans due to the fact that it’s not only a return to form for the series, but also a return to the World War II setting of the first Call of Duty games.
And given its good single player campaign, solid multiplayer and entertaining zombies mode, it’s clear that Call of Duty: WWII is a no-brainer purchase for fans of the franchise and action games in general. It’s a good thing, then, that the game is getting a good discount this Black Friday. Actually, the game is currently going for $39.99 at Best Buy (both Xbox One and PS4 versions), while Walmart is selling this latest Call of Duty game for $43, letting you pick up one of the year’s best shooters at a discounted price.
FIFA 18
Although some fans have complained that this soccer series has remained stale over the years and offered few new features with each instalment, the truth is that FIFA is still the top video game soccer franchise available, no matter how close Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer has come close to overshadowing EA’s killer series at times.
And this year’s edition at least brings some interesting new features to the table including a new animation system that makes players like Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo more life-like and responsive than ever. Also, the interesting “team styles” feature gives you more control over how your team plays in FIFA 18, something that will surely please fans of the sport.
Those planning on getting FIFA 18 during this Black Friday sale will be pleased to know that several retailers are offering the game at a discounted price. These include GameStop ($27 US dollars) and Best Buy ($29.99). You can also get FIFA 18 from the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store, with the standard edition going for $35.99 for both Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War
It’s clear many were looking forward to Middle-earth: Shadow of War this year, the latest Lord of the Rings game from US developer Monolith Productions. After all, this is a sequel to 2014’s superb Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and like its predecessor also features an original story set in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings universe, open-world gameplay and a reworked version of the original’s Nemesis system.
And there’s no doubt that the Nemesis system is one of the game’s highlights, as it creates unique enemies for you to battle during the game as orcs who defeat you become more powerful and rise in the orc hierarchy, adding depth to Shadow of War’s gameplay. Developer Monolith will also be adding to the game via DLC throughout this year and the next, surely making this game a good purchase for devoted Lord of the Rings fans and those who enjoy third-person action and role-playing games.
Those who were planning to pick up the game this Black Friday can do so at a reduced price, with the likes of GameStop offering the game at $24.99 (on both PS4 and Xbox One), while Walmart has it for $29.99 US dollars. Also, Xbox Live Gold members can buy a digital edition of the game for $35.99 during this Black Friday sale.
Assassin’s Creed Origins
Assassin’s Creed Origins has been lauded a return to form for the series thanks to its great new setting (ancient Egypt, no less), reworked combat and superb graphics. Also, the new role-playing elements this latest Assassin’s Creed game brings to the table (you can upgrade protagonist Bayek’s abilities to make him deadlier in combat or improve his defensive skills, for instance) sure are a nice addition to the game.
So this latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise is definitely a step ahead of 2015’s disappointing Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and a good return to form for the series after the disappointment that 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity was.
And those Assassin’s Creed fans planning to pick up the game this Black Friday will be happy to know that Ubisoft’s latest game is selling at discounted prices at stores like Best Buy ($34.99 US dollars). If you’d like to get hold of the season pass together with the main game, GameStop is offering a bundle including both for $69.99. Or if you would rather get a digital copy, the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store have the game at $41.99 US dollars. And those wanting to get hold of the PC version at a reduced price can take advantage of Ubisoft’s Uplay sale ($39.99) to buy this latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
