10. The Sinking City 2

The Sinking City was an atmospheric but flawed game set in the American city of Oakmont. It cast players as detective Charles Reed, a man struggling to avoid losing his sanity in a city besieged by supernatural forces, while fighting grotesque monsters inspired by the works of horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. And the flooded city of Oakmont did look quite a bit better in 2025’s remastered edition of the game too…

Sadly for fans of the original and those looking to play the sequel, though, Ukrainian studio Frogwares’ announced The Sinking City 2 had been delayed out of 2025… So it will now be one of the hottest games to see a release this year. The game will feature a new protagonist and setting (the city of Arkham) which is flooding and haunted by the supernatural. Lovecraftian monsters abound for players to take down with a gun and other weapons (as seen in the gameplay video below). Plus, this features open-world gameplay and investigations like the original game did, and could be a strong sequel and a game to watch out for when it lands this year.

Release date: First half of 2026. Available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
